A few months ago, I bought this Monopoly game. But it's no ordinary Monopoly. Instead of The Simpsons, Atlantic City, and etc. this is Winston-Salem!
This game is from 1985 and has many vintage items from Winston-Salem. One of my favorite features is the card that says "Involved in an I-40 Fender Bender".
A lot of the stores mentioned in this game are no longer with us like Food Fair, Bargain City, and Z-93.
I'm not real sure what Z-93 was. Might be what Oldies 93 used to be.
Apparently back then, K&W Cafeteria had a different emblem and they used to have a location on Stratford Road. I believe that one night, there was a gas leak of some sort and the place exploded. It closed Interstate 40 (Now Business 40) down for the day.
This game was a really neat find and a great look at Winston-Salem's former years.

That is a neat find.
K&W did have a different logo before the late '80s. But I thought it was the one downtown that blew up. There's one on Healy Drive, just off Stratford near Hanes Mall, but that one's been there forever.
I know a radio personality in My hometown in Orlando who I went to church with, who worked in Winston-Salem forgot the station, but launch Cool 105.9 in Orlando and worked as a DJ at WMMO 98.9 in Orlando. His name is Bill Gable and his connection to Winston-Salem is he worked at WMAG-FM there. in Greensboro-Winston-Salem.
