Western Steer

Western Steer in Sutton, West Virginia

Buffets have always been a part of my life. My favorite would be Golden Corral, but the Western Steer has a special place in my heart.

As of right now, the Triad doesn't have Western Steer's anymore. But back in the 90's, there was one on High Point Road in Greensboro and another on Stratford Road in Winston-Salem. The one in Greensboro is now a doctor's office and the one in Winston-Salem is now Sagebrush Steakhouse.

The format of the Western Steer was similar to Golden Corral. It was a steakhouse plus a buffet. However, the buffet at Western Steer was smaller than Golden Corral's. It always had that certain smell to it and I always think of country music when I think of the Western Steer.

The last time I ever went to Western Steer was in 1999 when I took a trip to Mount Airy. It was just like the Triad ones. I believe Western Steer still operates in Yadkinville and Mocksville.

I've never had Western Steer, but I've eaten at Golden Corral some.

I have had Western Steer before. There used to be one close to my part of the world, in Enterprise Alabama. Next to Dairy Queen and Mcdonald's. It is now a Po Folks. About 10 years ago approximately 1994 or 1995 it became a PoFolks.
